The Centre for European Studies at Chulalongkorn University in cooperation with the German Embassy in Bangkok would like to invite you to participate in the three-months lecture series on “Germany’s EU policy” by H.E. Mr. Rolf Schulze, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Thailand. The lectures will take place from September to November 2014.
The first topic ‘Germany and the Euro – A Look at the History of the Common Currency and Its Current Challenges’ will be presented on 22 September 2014, 13.30 – 16.30 hrs, at Room 105, Mahachulalongkorn Building, Chulalongkorn University. This lecture will explore the significance of the common European currency for the German economy, the largest in the European Union, and will give an introduction to the Euro, its development and framework. In addition, the lecture will highlight the sovereign-debt crisis within the Euro zone and the new measures and institutions that were introduced to overcome the crisis.
