On Wednesday September 17, 2014, representatives from Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) under the auspices of UNESCO including APCEIU Director Mr. CHUNG Utak and Dr. KIM Kwang-Hyun presented EIU Best Practice 2014 Award to a team of Faculty of Education lecturers who successfully carried out the project called “Enhancing Student Environmental Sustainability Awareness with Innovative Art Materials: Multidisciplinary of art and Science Activities”. On this occasion, APCEIU-UNESCO representatives also visited and observed lecture classes at the Department of Art Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.
The project has been initiated by five art education lecturers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. PoonaratPichayapaiboon as the Project Head along with team members: Dr. ApichartPholprasert, Dr. KhanobbhornSaengwanich, Dr. IntiraPhrompan and Dr. SoamshineBoonyananta. The goal of the project is to encourage the application of creative art materials in creating artworks while building environmental awareness among students participating in the project, for example, the development of pearl gouache color from waste green mussel shells.
